You may have to be a bit of a camera builder to appreciate this set. From my user inventory is this full plate or 6 1/2 x 8 1/2" camera back with 5 matched cherry film holders.I am not sure what camera the back came from originally. I had it mounted to a plate that fit on my full plate camera, hence the screw holes on the underside of the back. You will want to mount this back on a plate that fits the back of your camera. When mounted to a plate that fits your camera the bail will work as you can see right now the ends are just floating there. Anyway its a good back that I have used and tested with these film holders. The ground glass is shimmed perfectly to match these film holders. I shot with this mainly using my 300mm petzval lens wide open. I also made the ground glass and the bail on this back. The bail sits almost flush so doesn't get the way like some others can (zone vi for example). I used to work in camera repair and as a furniture builder so I know my way around building things.
Film holders are all used and tested and very nicely made. I don't know who made them but they are very nice professionally made cut sheet film holders. They are not fidelity or some other spec film holder these were made by someone with a lot of skill. It takes hundreds of operations to make film holders so hopefully you can appreciate these. One is still loaded with 2 sheets of unexposed single sided x-ray film. There is also one fh in the photos that has the tape over the center and that is exposed film that I have not yet processed. I will pull the exposed film before shipping but leave the 2 sheets of unexposed loaded.
Like I said I used these for my work but I have moved to another set up for portrait work and no longer need these. The only reason I changed my set up was so I could get a few more film holders for portrait shoots. If you shoot full plate or want to this is a great set up to help get you there fairly easily. You just need to make a plate to fit your full plate camera and they are ready to use. I can make the plate but I would need your camera here to do that (not included in the price). Of course this could be made to fit on any camera full plate size and larger like onto an 8x10.
Full plate is a great size and the reason I use it so much is the contact print fits so well on 8.5 x 11 paper. It's common to find or buy 8.5 x 11 cotton rag paper and I use this for my salt, albumen and cyanotype prints. Full plate also contact prints very nicely on 8x10
silver gelatin
photo paper.
Thank you for taking a look.
