Description
Super rare item that I have not been able to find out much about as far as its age or how it was used. It is around 23" in diameter and weighs over 30 lbs. The Texaco sign is around 11 3/4" in diameter. There are bolts and screws on the back but I don't know where it was placed. This appears to one of a very few because I could only find one on the Internet and, for all I know, this might be the same one. Is it one of a kind? I purchased it at an estate/consignment auction. Any information another Ebayer could provide would be appreciated.I have been contacted by other Ebayers who question whether the cast iron surround was really used for the Texaco sign originally and think the piece was a manhole cover or something similar. But I don't know how it would have been screwed down without access to the bottom. It looks to me like something that was used to cover the opening of a gasoline tanker or item of farm equipment?? The Texaco sign fits perfectly in the opening so I would have a hard time believing the surround was not made for the sign.
It is a puzzle to me.
I am not an expert but try to describe my items as completely and accurately as possible given the information I have before me. If you believe I misrepresented an item in any way, I will gladly accept its return. I will not accept returns from international bidders.
This will be hard to ship due to its weight and size.
If I list a shipping cost and the item is shipped for less than billed (over less) I will refund the difference. I require insurance on any purchase over 0. Shipping costs are for lower 48 states ONLY.
Thank you for looking.
